Photos & Perspectives of the Civil War:African American Soldiers
Assignment
The features editor for the African American Soldiers section has given you an assignment to write a 250-300-word feature article on the involvement of African Americans in the war, who were allowed to fight for the United States Army for the first time. Although they were soldiers, African Americans were placed in segregated units that saw little combat; they also did not have the same benefits of as white soldiers. Be sure that your article has a "slant" based on the perspective of your hometown newspaper.
